Smoke from Canadian wildfires has begun to invade, with air quality declining this evening.  A hazy, hot, and humid weather pattern will linger for the rest of the week.  A turn toward cooler, wetter weather is expected by the weekend.

EVENING

A cold front will approach from the north with scattered clouds, some smoky haze, and isolated thunderstorms with heavy downpours, frequent lightning, hail, and wind gusts between 40 and 70 mph.  Winds will veer to the northwest at 5 to 10 mph.  Temperatures will fall through the 90s and 80s.

TONIGHT

A cold front will stall over the region with scattered clouds and smoky haze.  Winds will veer to the northwest at 5 to 10 mph.  Low temperatures will range from the lower to mid-70s.

TOMORROW

A stationary front will produce scattered clouds with smoky haze.  Winds will back to the west at 5 to 10 mph.  High temperatures will range from the mid to upper 80s over the interior, lower to mid-90s in the New York City metropolitan area, mid to upper 90s in the Philadelphia metropolitan area, and upper 80s to lower 90s along the immediate coast and Long Island.

TOMORROW NIGHT
