Clearing skies will take hold this evening.  Tranquil conditions are expected through Christmas Day.  A winter storm will develop by Friday afternoon and continue through Saturday afternoon with significant snow and ice.

TONIGHT

High pressure will build into the region with clearing skies.  Winds will be from the west at 5 to 15 mph.  Low temperatures will range from the upper 20s to the lower 30s over the interior and mid to upper 30s along the coast.

TOMORROW

High pressure will produce scattered clouds.  Winds from the northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  High temperatures will range from the lower to mid-30s over the interior, upper 30s to lower 40s in the New York City metropolitan area, and lower to mid-40s in the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

TOMORROW NIGHT: CHRISTMAS EVE

High pressure will produce scattered clouds.  Winds will be from the south at 1 to 5 mph.  Low temperatures will range from the upper 20s to the lower 30s.

THURSDAY: CHRISTMAS

A cold front will produce scattered clouds.  Winds will veer from the southwest to the northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  High temperatures will range from the upper 30s to the lower 40s over the interior and lower to mid-40s along the coast.

High pressure will produce clear skies in the morning.  A warm front will produce periods of snow in the afternoon and evening.  Winds will be from the northeast at 5 to 15 mph.  Low temperatures will be from the lower to mid-10s over the interior, upper 10s to lower 20s in the suburbs, and lower to mid-20s along the coast.  High temperatures will range from the mid to upper 20s over the interior and upper 20s to lower 30s along the coast.

An area of low pressure will redevelop off the coast, with periods of snow throughout the New York City metropolitan area, a wintry mix in the Philadelphia metropolitan area, and snow-to-rain in southern New Jersey.  Low temperatures will range from the lower to mid-20s over the interior and upper 20s to lower 30s along the coast.  High temperatures will range from the upper 20s to lower 30s over the interior and lower to mid-30s along the coast.
