Heavy rain and strong winds will continue through this evening, followed by cold air crashing into the region.  Tranquil but chilly conditions return for the weekend.

TONIGHT

An area of low pressure and a cold front will produce waves of moderate to heavy rainfall.  The rain/snow mix over the interior will change over to snow in the Poconos, Catskills, Hudson Highlands, and Hudson River Valley.  Winds will be from the west at 10 to 20 mph, with gusts over 30 mph.  Temperatures will crash into the lower to mid-20s over the interior and upper 20s to lower 30s along the coast for lows.

TOMORROW

The low-pressure system will exit in the morning with periods of snow in the Poconos, Catskills, and Hudson Highlands, while rain will mix over to snow for the rest of the region before ending.  The skies will clear in the afternoon, with a few flurries possible into the coastal plain.  Winds will be from the west at 10 to 20 mph, with gusts over 30 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 20s over the interior, lower to mid-30s in the Delaware River Valley, and mid to upper 30s along the coast for highs.

TOMORROW NIGHT

Scattered clouds are expected.  Winds will be from the west at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will fall into the mid to upper 10s over the interior and lower to mid-20s along the coast for lows.

FRIDAY

Scattered clouds are expected.  Winds will be from the west at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 20s over the interior and lower to mid-30s along the coast for highs.

SATURDAY

Scattered clouds are expected.  Winds will veer to the northeast at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will range from the mid to upper 10s over the interior and lower to mid-20s along the coast for lows and mid to upper 30s for highs.

SUNDAY

Scattered clouds are expected.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-20s over the interior and mid to upper 20s along the coast for lows and mid to upper 30s over the interior and lower to mid-40s along the coast for highs.

MONDAY

An area of low pressure will approach with increasing clouds and scattered showers.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-30s over the interior and upper 30s to lower 40s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-40s over the interior, mid to upper 40s along the coast, and upper 40s to lower 50s in the Delaware River Valley for highs.

TUESDAY

An area of low pressure will produce scattered showers.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-30s over the interior, mid to upper 30s in the suburbs, and lower to mid-40s in urban areas for lows and upper 40s to lower 50s over the interior and lower to mid-50s along the coast for highs.

WEDNESDAY

An area of low pressure will produce scattered showers.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-40s over the interior, mid to upper 40s in the Delaware River Valley, and lower to mid-50s along the coast for lows and mid to upper 40s over the interior, lower to mid-50s in the Delaware River Valley, and mid to upper 50s along the coast for highs.
