A hot and humid weather pattern will take hold today, with a heat index pushing into the 90s.  Thunderstorms return tomorrow evening.  A hotter weather pattern develops for next week.

TODAY

High pressure will produce scattered clouds.  Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the upper 70s to lower 80s on Long Island, lower to mid-80s along the coast, mid to upper 80s in the Delaware River Valley, and lower to mid-80s over the interior for highs.

TONIGHT

High pressure will produce scattered clouds.  Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will fall into the mid to upper 60s for lows.

TOMORROW

Areas of low clouds can be expected in the morning, followed by scattered clouds towards noon.  A cold front will produce scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.  The thunderstorms will be capable of heavy downpours, frequent lightning, hail, and wind gusts over 40 mph.  Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the mid-70s to lower 80s over the interior, mid-80s to lower 90s in the Delaware River Valley, lower to mid-80s along the coast, and upper 70s to lower 80s on Long Island for highs.
