The rainstorm continues today with more waves moderate to heavy rain followed by periods of drizzle.  A coastal storm will take hold tonight through tomorrow as the rainstorm gradually exits by tomorrow afternoon.

TODAY

An area of low pressure will develop along the New Jersey coast with waves of moderate to heavy rainfall.  Winds will back to the northeast at 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.  Coastal flooding will be a threat.  Urban and river flooding will be a threat.  Temperatures will rise into the upper 30s to lower 40s over the interior, mid to upper 40s in the New York City metropolitan area, and lower 50s to lower 60s in the Philadelphia metropolitan area for highs.

TONIGHT

The low-pressure system will intensify to teh south of Long Island with waves of rainfall throughout the region.  Some snow will mix with rain in the Poconos and Catskills with very little snow accumulation expected.  Winds will be from the northeast at 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.  Temperatures will fall into the lower to mid-30s over the interior and mid to upper 30s along the coast for lows.

TOMORROW

The low-pressure system will slowly lift from the coastal waters of Long Island to the Gulf of Maine, with rainfall tapering to showers for most of the region.  However, with cold air pushing south from the Great Lakes, the rain will mix with sleet and snow in the Poconos, Catskills, and Hudson Highlands, with some snow accumulation for elevations above 1,500 feet on cold surfaces.  Winds will back from the northeast to the west at 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 30s over the interior, lower to mid-40s in the New York City metropolitan area, and upper 40s to lower 50s in the Philadelphia metropolitan area for highs.

TOMORROW NIGHT

The low-pressure system will exit the region with overcast skies and scattered showers.  Winds will be from the northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will fall into the upper 20s to lower 30s over the interior and mid to upper 30s along the coast for lows.

FRIDAY

A series of troughs will pass through the region, with scattered clouds and isolated showers.  Winds will be from the northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the upper 20s to lower 30s over the interior and mid to upper 30s along the coast for lows and mid-30s to lower 40s over the interior and mid to upper 40s along the coast for highs.

SATURDAY

A series of troughs will pass through the region, with scattered clouds and isolated showers. Winds will be from the northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-30s over the interior and mid to upper 30s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-40s over the interior and upper 40s to lower 50s along the coast for highs.

SUNDAY

High pressure will produce scattered cloud clover.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-20s over the interior, upper 20s to lower 30s in the suburbs, and lower to mid-30s in urban areas for lows and upper 50s to lower 60s over the interior and lower to mid-60s along the coast for highs.

MONDAY

High pressure will produce scattered clouds.  Temperatures will range from the upper 20s to lower 30s over the interior and lower to mid-30s along the coast for lows and upper 50s to lower 60s over the interior and lower to mid-60s along the coast for highs.

TUESDAY

High pressure will produce scattered clouds.  Temperatures will range from the mid to upper 30s over the interior and upper 30s to lower 40s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-60s over the interior and mid to upper 60s along the coast for highs.

WEDNESDAY

High pressure will produce scattered clouds.  Temperatures will range from the mid to upper 30s for lows and lower to mid-60s on the coast, mid to upper 60s over the interior, and upper 60s to lower 70s in the Delaware River Valley for highs.
