An inverted trough from a departing low-pressure system will produce periods of showers mixing with snow at times over the interior.  Tranquil conditions return in time for the weekend.

TODAY

An area of low pressure will develop over the coastal waters with an inverted trough over Connecticut and Long Island, producing scattered showers along the coast and a mix of snow, sleet, and rain showers over the higher elevations above 1,000 feet.  Winds will be from the northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the lower to mid-40s over the interior and upper 40s to lower 50s along the coast for highs.

High pressure will produce clear skies and scattered clouds.  Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 20s over the interior and lower to mid-30s along the coast for lows.
