An unsettled weather pattern arrives to begin the work-week, followed by a powerful cold front and fall-like conditions into next weekend.

TODAY

High pressure moves off the coast. Generally sunny skies and pleasant conditions. Cloud cover may build in later today as an upper level disturbance approaches from the West. Otherwise warm, with high temperatures in the low to mid 80s throughout the region. Poconos and Catskills may struggle to reach 80.

TONIGHT

Variable cloud cover, with winds SW at 5-10 mph. Low temperatures should fall into the lower 60s over most of the region, with upper 60s to lower 70s favoring the Delaware River Valley and coastline. Patchy fog still possible as summer closes out and the nights lengthen.

TOMORROW

A rather pleasant and warm morning before an upper-level disturbance arrives. Showers and thunderstorms are possible across the region, however little severe threat associated with this system exists. High temperatures in the mid to upper 80s are likely in the Delaware River Valley, with upper 70s to lower 80s elsewhere.

TOMORROW NIGHT

Any showers or thunderstorms will diminish into the evening. Otherwise partly cloudy with patchy fog again a possibility. Look for low temperatures in the 60s.

TUESDAY

The upper level ridge regains control allowing for mostly sunny skies and winds out of the NW at 10-15 mph. High temperatures should favor the lower 80s in the DRV, mid to upper 70s along the coast, and low to mid 70s in the Poconos and Catskills.

WEDNESDAY

A trough arrives. Variable cloud cover gives way to possible scattered showers and thunderstorms later in the day and into the evening. Uncertainty with the frontal timing responsible for any precipitation does exist. A delayed arrival will allow for extended southwesterly flow and warmer temperatures than expected. For now, expect lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s across the region, and high temperatures in the upper 70s to lower 80s for most.

THURSDAY

A cold front, likely the strongest we have seen this season, will follow. Lingering showers and thunderstorms are expected, with partly cloudy skies later in the day.  Otherwise, breezy and cooler, with low temperatures in the mid to upper 60s for most, and high temperatures in the mid to upper 70s for the Delaware River Valley, and upper 60s to lower 70s elsewhere.

FRIDAY

Cooler, drier, and breezy with mostly sunny skies as a healthy Canadien airmass takes control. Low temperatures in the upper 40s to lower 50s are expected in the Delaware River Valley and along the coast. Lower 40s are likely in the Poconos/Catskills, with possible readings in the upper 30s depending on the overnight winds. High temperatures should range in the 60s throughout the region.

SATURDAY and SUNDAY

High pressure should linger over the region on Saturday, once again producing generally sunny skies. Most will wake up to lows ranging in the 40s, similar to Friday. High temperatures will likely warm up a bit, with upper 60s to lower 70s expected in the Delaware River Valley and slightly cooler elsewhere.

Sunday morning expect low temperatures predominantly ranging in the 50s. Otherwise, varying cloud cover and a stray shower or thunderstorm is possible as both temperature and humidity begin to build again. High temperatures across the region will likely range throughout the 70s, the warmest of those in the Delaware River Valley.
