Waves of Arctic air will return by tonight and continue through next week, while a major winter storm becomes a threat Sunday morning through early Monday morning.

TONIGHT

High pressure will build into the region with scattered clouds.  Winds will veer to the northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Low temperatures will range from the single digits below zero to the single digits above zero.

TOMORROW

High pressure will produce scattered clouds.  Winds will be from the northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  High temperatures will range from the single digits to the lower 10s over the interior and mid to upper 10s along the coast.

TOMORROW NIGHT

An area of low pressure will approach the region with snow developing after midnight.  Winds will veer to the north at 5 to 15 mph.  Low temperatures will range from the single digits over the interior and lower to mid-10s along the coast.

SUNDAY

Periods of heavy snow can be expected in the morning.  The snow will mix with sleet, freezing rain, and rain in the afternoon along and southeast of the I-95 corridor, while heavy snow continues over the interior.  Winds will be from the northwest at 10 to 20 mph with gusts over 30 mph.  High temperatures will range from the mid to upper 10s over the interior, lower to mid-20s on the northern side of the I-95 corridor, upper 20s to lower 30s on the southern side of the I-95 corridor and Long Island, and mid to upper 30s on the New Jersey coast.

MONDAY

The area of low pressure will exit the region with lingering snow showers in the morning.  Skies will clear in the afternoon and evening.  Winds will veer to the northwest at 10 to 20 mph.  Low temperatures will range from the mid to upper 10s over the interior, upper 10s to lower 20s in the suburbs, and mid to upper 20s along the coast.  High temperatures will range from the upper 10s to the lower 20s over the interior, from the mid to upper 20s in the Delaware River Valley, and from the upper 20s to the lower 30s along the coast.

TUESDAY

High pressure will produce scattered clouds and a few flurries. Low temperatures will range from the teens to single digits below zero over the interior and single digits along the coast.  High temperatures will range from the single digits to the lower 10s over the interior and the lower to mid-10s along the coast.

WEDNESDAY

High pressure will produce scattered clouds and a few flurries.
