A series of cold fronts will end the year with the threat of rain on New Year’s Eve.  A turn to a colder and stormy weather pattern is expected to start the new year.

TODAY 

A cold front will clear the region with lingering showers this morning, followed by clearing skies this afternoon.  Winds will veer to the southwest at 10 to 20 mph.  Temperatures will hold in the mid to upper 40s over the interior and lower to mid-50s along the coast for highs.

TONIGHT

High pressure will produce scattered clouds.  Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 10 mph.  Temperatures will fall into the upper 20s to lower 30s over the interior and lower to mid-30s along the coast for lows.

TOMORROW

An area of low pressure will approach the region with increasing clouds.  Winds will veer to the southeast at 5 to 10 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the upper 40s to lower 50s over the interior and lower to mid-50s along the coast for highs.

TOMORROW NIGHT, NEW YEAR’S EVE

An area of low pressure will pass through the region with periods of moderate to heavy rainfall.  Winds will veer from the southeast at 5 to 10 mph to the southwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will fall into the mid to upper 30s over the interior and lower to mid-40s along the coast for lows.

WEDNESDAY, NEW YEAR’S DAY

The area of low pressure will exit with a few lingering showers in the morning, followed by clearing skies in the afternoon.  A few flurries will be a threat over the interior.  Winds will be from the southwest at 10 to 20 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the upper 30s to lower 40s over the interior, mid to upper 40s in the Delaware River Valley, and upper 40s to lower 50s along the coast for highs.

THURSDAY

A series of troughs will produce scattered clouds and a few flurries.  Winds will be from the west at 10 to 20 mph.  Temperatures will range from the upper 20s to lower 30s over the interior and lower to mid-30s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-30s over the interior and mid to upper 30s along the coast for highs.

FRIDAY

A series of troughs will produce scattered clouds and a few flurries.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-20s for lows and upper 20s to lower 30s over the interior and lower to mid-30s along the coast for highs.

SATURDAY

A series of troughs will produce scattered clouds and a few flurries.  Temperatures will range from the upper 10s to lower 20s over the interior and lower to mid-20s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-20s over the interior and upper 20s to lower 30s along the coast for highs.

High pressure will produce scattered clouds.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-20s over the interior and mid to upper 20s along the coast for lows and mid to upper 20s over the interior and upper 20s to lower 30s along the coast for highs.

MONDAY

An area of low pressure will approach the region with snow by the afternoon throughout the region.  The snow will mix with sleet and rain in southern New Jersey.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-20s for lows and mid to upper 20s over the interior and lower to mid-30s along the coast for highs.
