Windy conditions have developed this afternoon due to the optimal mixing of the atmosphere, which is tapping into a jet streak at 850 MB. The mixing created by the combination of solar heating and cold air aloft supports sustained winds at 15 to 30 mph throughout the region, with gusts over 30 mph at times. These winds have produced some power outages, downed limbs of trees, and minor structural damage. The wind will subside towards the evening as the instability of the atmosphere declines and mixing ends.
