The atmosphere continues to destabilize this afternoon ahead of a pre-frontal trough and a cold front over western Pennsylvania and western New York. The atmosphere supports thunderstorms capable of heavy downpours, frequent lightning, small hail, and wind gusts over 40 mph. At this time, there has been no support for the development of tornadoes with these thunderstorms. The showers and thunderstorms will impact the region through 11 PM. The worst conditions are expected to be from 5 PM to 11 PM as the cold front clears the region. The thunderstorms will be capable of producing 0.50″ to 2.00″ of rain with localized urban flooding. The thunderstorms may reach severe levels with wind gusts over 55 mph producing minor wind damage, power outages, and poor visibility.
