An impressive winter storm is moving through the region this morning, significantly impacting the morning rush hour.

TODAY

An intensifying area of low pressure over the coastal waters will produce periods of moderate to heavy snowfall over the interior and a mix of rain and snow changing to snow along the coast in the morning.  Snowfall rates of 1″ to 3″ per hour will be possible from 5 AM to 1 PM tomorrow around central New Jersey, the New York City metropolitan area, and Long Island.  The snow will continue into the afternoon.  The skies will clear in the evening.  Winds will back from the northeast to the northwest at 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.  Minor coastal flooding will be a threat.  Temperatures will rise into the upper 30s to lower 40s for highs.

TONIGHT

Skies will clear throughout the region.  Winds will be from the northwest at 5 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph.  Temperatures will fall into the lower to mid-20s over the interior and mid to upper 20s along the coast for lows.

TOMORROW

High pressure will produce scattered clouds.  Winds will be from the northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the upper 20s to lower 30s over the interior and mid to upper 30s along the coast for highs.

TOMORROW NIGHT

High pressure will produce scattered clouds.  Winds will be from the northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will fall into the mid-10s to lower 20s for lows.

THURSDAY

A cold front will produce scattered clouds and a few rain/snow showers in the evening.  Winds will be from the northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 30s over the interior and upper 30s to lower 40s along the coast for highs.

FRIDAY

A cold front will exit the region with scattered rain/snow showers in the morning, followed by clearing skies.  Winds will be from the west at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-20s over the interior and upper 20s to lower 30s along the coast for lows and mid to upper 30s over the interior and upper 30s to lower 40s along the coast for highs.

SATURDAY

A series of troughs will produce scattered clouds and flurries.  Temperatures will range from the mid-10s to lower 20s over the interior and mid to upper 20s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-30s over the interior and mid to upper 30s along the coast for highs.

SUNDAY

A series of troughs will produce scattered clouds and flurries.  Temperatures will range from the mid-10s to lower 20s for lows and lower to mid-30s over the interior and upper 30s to lower 40s along the coast for highs.

High pressure will produce scattered clouds.  Temperatures will range from the upper 10s to lower 20s for lows and lower to mid-40s over the interior and upper 40s to lower 50s along the coast for highs.

TUESDAY

High pressure will exit the region with increasing clouds.  Temperatures will range from the upper 20s to lower 30s for lows and mid to upper 40s over the interior and along the coast and lower to mid-50s in the Delaware River Valley for highs.
