An area of low pressure will approach the region with increasing clouds and rain developing towards midnight. Winds will be from the northeast at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 40s over the interior and upper 40s to lower 50s along the coast for highs.
TONIGHT
As an intensifying area of low pressure approaches the region, periods of rain will develop towards midnight for most of the region while a wintry mix develops over the interior. The wintry mix will turn to snow after midnight, while the rain will begin to mix with snow towards the morning along the coast. Winds will be from the northeast at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures will fall into the upper 20s to lower 30s over the interior, lower to mid-30s along the I-95 corridor, and mid to upper 30s in southern New Jersey for lows.
TOMORROW
An intensifying area of low pressure over the coastal waters will produce periods of moderate to heavy snowfall over the interior and a mix of rain and snow changing to snow along the coast in the morning. Snowfall rates of 1″ to 3″ per hour will be possible from 5 AM to 1 PM tomorrow around the New York City metropolitan area and Long Island. The snow will continue into the afternoon. The skies will clear in the evening. Winds will back from the northeast to the northwest at 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Minor coastal flooding will be a threat. Temperatures will rise into the lower to mid-30s over the interior and mid to upper 30s along the coast for highs.
