An area of low pressure will approach from the eastern Great Lakes tomorrow afternoon and begin to redevelop towards the New Jersey coastal waters in the evening. An area of precipitation will move into the region after 5 PM tomorrow as a mix of rain, sleet, and snow over the interior and rain along the coast. As temperatures cool towards freezing, the wintry mix over the interior will mix over into very wet snow. The snow will accumulate the best on cold surfaces and untreated surfaces while many roadways over the interior will become slushy and icy. The precipitation will continue through the overnight hours where the bulk of the snowfall that is expected will accumulate from 8 PM tomorrow night through 5 AM Saturday morning. The precipitation will end from northwest to southeast on Saturday with most of the precipitation in the form of a rain/snow mix after 8 AM on Saturday.
A full forecast update on the rest of the weekend and the potential for another storm, which may be far more significant, will be out this evening.
