Strong high pressure will begin building in today, holding a firm grip over the region through the first half of the week bringing cold but tranquil conditions. Then, an area of low pressure and a strong arctic cold front will bring mixed precipitation and much colder temperatures into next weekend.
TODAY
High pressure will begin to build in, producing scattered cloud cover throughout the day with winds out of the west at 5 to 15 mph. A few flurries or light snow showers may be possible in the Poconos and Catskills, but little to no accumulation is expected. High temperatures will range in the 30s over the interior and upper 30s to lower 40s along the coast.
TONIGHT
Mostly clear skies and winds generally from the west at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures will fall into the low to mid-20s over the interior and mid to upper 20s along the coast, with upper 10s possible in the Poconos and Catskills.
TOMORROW
High pressure will produce a mainly sunny sky. Winds will still be from the west at 5 to 15 mph with temperatures rising into the lower to mid-30s over the interior and mid to upper 30s along the coast.
TOMORROW NIGHT
Mostly clear skies. Winds generally from the west-northwest at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures will fall into the low to mid-20s over the interior and mid to upper 20s along the coast.
TUESDAY
High pressure will allow for a mix of clouds and sunshine. Winds will be from the northwest at 5 to 10 mph. High temperatures will range in the lower to mid-30s over the interior and mid to upper 30s along the coast. Overnight, expect low temperatures to range in the 10s for the Poconos and Catskills, the 20s over the interior, and upper 20s to lower 30s along the coast.
WEDNESDAY
Partly cloudy skies will give way to increasing cloud cover throughout the afternoon. Temperatures should rise into the low to mid-30s over the interior, and upper 30s to lower 40s in the Delaware River Valley and along the coast. Expect low temperatures to fall into the upper 10s to the lower 20s for the Poconos and Catskills, mid to upper 20s over the interior, and lower to mid-30s along the coast.
THURSDAY
A powerful arctic cold front and an area of low pressure to the south will approach the region. For now, increasing cloud cover in the morning followed by snow, sleet, and rain in the afternoon and evening is expected. Temperatures should rise into the mid to upper 30s over much of the interior, ranging in the 40s in the Delaware River Valley and 50s along the coast. Temperatures will likely remain steady overnight.
FRIDAY
An arctic cold front and area of low pressure will move through the region bringing periods of rain, sleet, and snow. Windy conditions are expected. High temperatures will likely reach the upper 30s to mid-40s over the interior and upper 40s to lower 50s along the coast, before falling through the 30s, 20s, and 10s into the evening.
SATURDAY
A series of troughs will produce scattered snow showers. Windy conditions are expected. High temperatures will range in the lower 10s to the lower 20s across the region. Low temperatures will range from the single digits to lower 10s over the interior and mid to upper 10s along the coast.
SUNDAY
Partly cloudy skies and high temperatures similarly range in the lower 10s to the lower 20s across the region, falling into the single digits to lower 10s over the interior and mid to upper 10s along the coast.
