A return to a chilly, active weather pattern is on the way with below-normal temperatures and threats for rain and snow.

TONIGHT 

A trough will move through the region with scattered clouds and isolated snow showers in the Poconos and Catskills.  Winds will be from the northwest at 10 to 20 mph.  Temperatures will fall into the upper 20s to lower 30s over the interior and mid to upper 30s along the coast for lows.

TOMORROW 

High pressure will produce clear skies to scattered clouds.  Winds will be from the northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the upper 30s to lower 40s over the interior and lower to mid-40s along the coast for highs.

TOMORROW NIGHT

High pressure will produce clear skies to scattered clouds.  Winds will be from the north at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will fall into the mid to upper 20s over the interior and lower to mid-30s along the coast for lows.

TUESDAY

An area of low pressure will approach the region with increasing clouds throughout the day followed by rain and snow showers in the evening.  A wintry mix of snow, sleet, and rain can be expected in higher elevations at night with some minor snow accumulation on cold surfaces of up to 2″.  Winds will be from the east at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the lower to mid-40s for highs.

WEDNESDAY

A wintry mix of snow, sleet, and rain will mix over to rain in the morning while periods of rain continue along the coast as an area of low pressure moves through the coastal waters.  Clearing skies are expected in the afternoon and evening hours.  Winds will back to the northwest at 10 to 20 mph.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-30s over the interior and upper 30s to mid-40s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-40s over the interior and upper 40s to mid-50s along the coast for highs.

THURSDAY

High pressure will produce clear skies to scattered clouds.  A few snow showers are possible in the Catskills and Ponocos.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-30s over the interior and mid to upper 30s along the coast for lows and upper 30s to lower 40s over the interior and lower to mid-40s along the coast for highs.

FRIDAY

High pressure will produce clear skies to scattered clouds.  A few snow showers are possible in the Catskills and Ponocos.  Temperatures will range from the mid to upper 20s over the interior and lower to mid-30s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-30s over the interior and upper 30s to lower 40s along the coast for highs.

SATURDAY

High pressure will exit the region with increasing clouds.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-20s over the interior and mid to upper 20s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-30s over the interior and upper 30s to lower 40s along the coast for highs.

SUNDAY

An area of low pressure will pass through the region with periods of rain along the coast and a wintry mix for the higher elevations.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-30s over the interior and upper 30s to lower 40s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-30s over the interior and upper 30s to lower 40s along the coast for highs.

MONDAY

High pressure will produce clear skies to scattered clouds.  Temperatures will range from the mid to upper 10s over the interior and lower to mid-20s along the coast for lows and upper 20s to lower 30s over the interior and lower to mid-30s along the coast for highs.
