Hazy, hot, and humid conditions return to the region, but a back door cold front will crash the party by tonight.  Unsettled conditions will continue through the week.

TODAY

High pressure will produce clear skies to scattered cloud cover.  Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 80s along the coast, upper 80s to lower 90s over the interior, and lower to mid-90s in the Delaware River Valley for highs.  A heat index in the mid to upper 90s is expected.

TONIGHT

A back door cold front will move through the New York City metropolitan area and stall over New Jersey with scattered to broken cloud cover and some areas of fog.  Winds will back to the east at 5 to 15 mph along the coast and from the southwest at 5 to 10 mph away from the coast.  Temperatures will fall into the upper 50s to lower 60s along the coast and mid-60s to lower 70s away from the coast for lows.

TOMORROW

A back-door cold front will stall over the region between New York City and Philadelphia with areas of fog in the morning followed by scattered to broken cloud cover and isolated showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon.  Winds will be from the east at 5 to 15 mph along the coast and in Connecticut and from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph away from the coast.  Temperatures will rise into the upper 60s to mid-70s over Connecticut and Long Island, mid-70s to lower 80s in the Hudson River Valley, northeastern New Jersey, New York City, and central New Jersey, and mid-80s to lower 90s over western New Jersey, southern New Jersey, and eastern Pennsylvania.

THURSDAY

A stalling back-door cold front will produce scattered to broken cloud cover with isolated to scattered showers throughout the region.  A strong cold front will approach in the evening hours with widespread showers and thunderstorms.  Winds will be from the east at 5 to 15 mph along the coast and in Connecticut and from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph away from the coast.   Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-60s for lows and lower to mid-70s along the coast and upper 70s to mid-80s away from the coast for highs.

FRIDAY

A strong cold front will move through the region in the morning with lingering showers and thunderstorms followed by clearing skies and lower humidity.  Temperatures will range from the mid to upper 50s over the interior and lower to mid-60s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-70s over the interior, mid to upper 70s along the coast, and upper 70s to lower 80s in the Delaware River Valley for highs.

SATURDAY

A trough will linger over the region with scattered clouds and isolated showers.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-50s for lows and upper 60s to lower 70s along the coast, lower to mid-70s over the interior, and mid to upper 70s in the Delaware River Valley for highs.

SUNDAY

A weak trough will produce scattered clouds and isolated showers.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-50s for lows and upper 60s to lower 70s along the coast, lower to mid-70s over the interior, and mid to upper 70s in the Delaware River Valley for highs.

MONDAY AND TUESDAY

High pressure will produce clear skies to scattered clouds.  Temperatures on Monday will range from the upper 40s to lower 50s over the interior and lower to mid-50s along the coast for lows and upper 60s to lower 70s along the coast and mid to upper 70s away from the coast for highs.  Temperatures on Tuesday will range from the upper 40s to mid-50s over the interior and mid to upper 50s along the coast for lows and upper 60s to lower 70s along the coast, mid to upper 70s over the interior, and mid-70s to lower 80s in the Delaware River Valley for highs.
