Impressive warmth this afternoon will give way to strong wind gusts over 40 mph and strong to severe thunderstorms this evening.

TODAY

A cold front will slowly approach the region with scattered to broken clouds along with isolated to scattered showers.  As the cold front moves through the region this afternoon and evening from 4 PM to 10 PM, heavy rainfall and thunderstorms capable of reaching severe levels can be expected.  The thunderstorms will be capable of frequent lightning, heavy downpours, and wind gusts over 65 mph.  Winds will veer from the southeast to the southwest at 5 to 15 mph, increasing to 15 to 30 mph this afternoon and evening with gusts over 40 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the lower to mid-60s over the interior and immediate coast and upper 60s to mid-70s elsewhere.

TONIGHT

The cold front will clear the coast with lingering rainfall through midnight followed by clearing skies.  Winds will veer to the northwest at 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.  Temperatures will fall into the upper 20s to mid-30s for lows.

TOMORROW

High pressure will produce clear skies to scattered cloud cover.  Winds will be from the northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the lower to mid-40s over the interior and mid-40s to lower 50s along the coast for highs.

WEDNESDAY

An area of low pressure will produce periods of showers, mixing with snow at times, in the morning through the afternoon.  Winds will veer to the east at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will range from the upper 20s to mid-30s for lows and upper 30s to lower 40s for highs.

THURSDAY THROUGH FRIDAY

High pressure will produce clear skies to scattered cloud cover.  Temperatures on Thursday will range from the upper 20s to mid-30s for lows and upper 40s to lower 50s for highs.  Temperatures on Friday will range from the lower to mid-30s for lows and lower to mid-50s over the interior and along the coast and upper 50s to mid-60s in the Delaware River Valley for highs.

SATURDAY

An area of low pressure will produce periods of rain, heavy at times.  Temperatures will range from the mid-30s to lower 40s over the interior and mid-40s to lower 50s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-50s over the interior and upper 50s to lower 60s along the coast for highs.

SUNDAY AND MONDAY

High pressure will produce clear skies to scattered cloud cover.  Temperatures on Sunday will range from the mid-10s to lower 20s for lows and mid to upper 30s for highs.  Temperatures on Monday will range from the mid to upper 20s over the interior and lower to mid-30s along the coast for lows and upper 40s to mid-50s for highs.
