Winter makes its return this week as the pattern has become more favorable. An area of low pressure looks to bring accumulating snowfall to southern regions on Monday. The threat of more snow is in the forecast towards the end of the week.

Sunday: Overcast skies with scattered showers and drizzles are expected. High temperatures will range from the mid-50s to low-60s for southern regions while northern regions are stuck in the low-40s to near 50. Temperatures will crash throughout the day, falling through the 40s and 30s as the cold front clears the region. Winds will be from the northwest at 5-10 mph.

Sunday Night: An area of low pressure will develop and intensify along the cold front, bringing rain changing over to snow for southern regions. The snow could be heavy at times. Low temperatures will range from the mid-20s to the low-30s. Winds will be from the northwest at 5-10 mph.

Monday: Snow and snow showers will continue during the morning hours before tapering off in the afternoon. Flurries and scattered snow showers are expected further north. The snow could be heavy at times, especially for extreme southern areas. There is still some uncertainty at this time due to the invasion of dry air on the northern fringe. Please refer to the snow map for more details. Winds will be from the northwest at 10-15 mph. Overnight lows will range from the mid-teens to the low-20s.

Tuesday: An area of high pressure will move into the area, bringing clear skies and calm conditions. Highs will range from the upper-20s to the low-30s. Winds will be from the south at 5-10 mph. Overnight lows will fall into the mid-20s to low-30s.

Wednesday: Cloudy skies will return and bring the chance of drizzle and widely scattered showers. High temperatures will range from the low-40s to near 50 for the coast while the interior ranges from the low-30s to near 40. Winds will be from the south at 5-10 mph. Lows will drop into the low-30s to mid-30s for the coast while the interior ranges from the mid-20s to low-30s.

Thursday: Clouds will increase as an area of low pressure will approach the region. This area of low pressure will redevelop off the coast and bring a mix of rain, snow, and sleet but details are uncertain as to how impactful this will be. Highs will stay in the low-30s to mid-30s for the coast while the interior ranges from the mid-20s to low-30s. Winds will be from the west at 10-15 mph. Lows will drop into the upper teens to mid-20s for the interior and mid-20s to low-30s for the coast.

Friday: Cloudy skies and lingering snow showers will remain as the area of low pressure begins to pull away. Temperatures will range from the mid-20s to low-30s for highs. Winds will be from the northwest at 10-15 mph. Lows will fall into the upper teens to mid-20s.

Weekend: Skies will clear as high-pressure takes control on Saturday before another cold front approaches the region on Sunday. Cloudy skies and showers are expected. Highs will range from the mid-30s to near 40. Winds will be from the southwest at 5-10 mph. Lows will range from the low-20s to near 30.
