A strong cold front will bring the threat of severe thunderstorms and flooding this evening.  Tranquil conditions return for the weekend.

TODAY

A cold front will slowly approach the region with increasing clouds followed by showers and a few thunderstorms developing in the afternoon hours.  Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 10 mph, increasing to 10 to 15 mph towards evening.  Temperatures will rise into the upper 70s to lower 80s over the interior, upper 70s to mid-80s along the coast, and lower to mid-80s in the Delaware River Valley for highs.

TONIGHT

The approaching cold front will support showers and thunderstorms this evening through early tomorrow morning with a few thunderstorms reaching severe levels.  The strongest thunderstorms will be capable of intense downpours, frequent lightning, wind gusts over 60 mph, small hail, and possibly an isolated tornado.  The strongest thunderstorms are expected between 8 PM through 2 AM tonight from west to east.  The thunderstorms will be capable of rainfall rates of 1″ per hour, thus the potential for localized flash flooding, especially over eastern Pennsylvania, the Catskills, and northwestern New Jersey.  Winds will be from the southwest at 10 to 15 mph with higher gusts.  Temperatures will fall into the lower to mid-60s over the interior and upper 60s to lower 70s along the coast for lows.

TOMORROW

The cold front will slowly move through the region tomorrow morning with periods of showers linger through early tomorrow afternoon.  Skies will clear towards the evening.  Winds will veer to the northwest at 5 to 15mph.  Temperatures will rise into the mid-60s to lower 70s over the interior and mid to upper 70s along the coast for highs.

FRIDAY

High pressure will build into the region with clear skies to scattered cloud cover.  Winds will be from the northwest at 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph at times.  Temperatures will range from the mid to upper 50s over the interior and lower to mid-60s along the coast for lows and mid-60s to lower 70s over the interior and lower to mid-70s along the coast for highs.

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY

High pressure will pass through the region with clear skies to scattered cloud cover.  Temperatures on Saturday will range from the upper 40s to mid-50s over the interior and mid to upper 50s along the coast for lows and upper 60s to lower 70s over the interior, lower to mid-70s along the coast, and mid to upper 70s in the Delaware River Valley for highs.  Temperatures on Sunday will range from the upper 50s to the lower 60s over the interior and mid to upper 60s along the coast for lows and mid to upper 70s over the interior, upper 70s to lower 80s along the coast, and lower to mid-80s in the Delaware River Valley for highs.

MONDAY THROUGH TUESDAY

A cold front will drop through the region on Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning with scattered to broken cloud cover and scattered showers.  Scattered cloud cover is expected on Tuesday afternoon and evening.  Temperatures on Monday will range from the lower to mid-60s over the interior and mid to upper 60s along the coast for lows and upper 70s to lower 80s over the interior, mid-70s to lower 80s along the coast, and mid-80s to lower 90s in the Delaware River Valley for highs.  Temperatures on Tuesday will range from the upper 50s to lower 60s over the interior and mid to upper 60s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-70s over the interior, mid-70s to lower 80s along the coast, and mid-70s to lower 80s in the Delaware River Valley for highs.

WEDNESDAY

The cold front will stall over the region with scattered to broken cloud cover and isolated showers.  Temperatures will range from the mid to upper 60s for lows and upper 70s to lower 80s over the interior and along the coast and mid to upper 80s in the Delaware River Valley for highs.
