Hot and humid to start the week with a chance of heavy rain and thunderstorms in advance of a powerful cold front on Tuesday. Cooler temperatures and lower humidity return for late next week before making a rebound next weekend.

Sunday: A typical summer day is expected with temperatures in the 80s and humid conditions. Partly cloudy skies with the chance of an isolated thunderstorm, mainly for our western regions, is expected. Winds will be from the southwest at 5-10 mph.

Monday: Another hot and humid day is expected with temperatures reaching near 90 along the I-95 corridor, elsewhere will be in the upper 80s. A cold front approaching the region will spark thunderstorms for our western areas during the afternoon. Some storms could be severe with heavy rain and damaging winds (>60 mph) being the main threats. These storms will weaken significantly overnight as they approach the coastal plain.

Tuesday: The cold front will clear the region and provide cooler, more comfortable conditions for the next few days. Cloudy skies early will begin to clear later in the day. Temperatures are expected to be in the low to mid-70s as winds shift to the northwest at 10-15 mph.

Wednesday: A calm and sunny day is expected as a trough settles in over the eastern US. Temperatures will be in the upper 60s to low 70s across the region. Winds will remain light at 5-10 mph from the northwest.

Thursday: Another nice day is expected with sunny skies and light winds. Temperatures will warm slightly, reaching into the low to mid-70s.

Friday: Cool and calm conditions are expected once again as we remain under the influence of a high-pressure system. Temperatures are expected to be in the low 70s for most locations while eastern locations will be stuck in the upper 60s due to easterly flow off the cool ocean.

Weekend: Some heat and humidity enter the picture during the weekend as southwesterly flow returns. Temperatures will climb into the 80s for most locations while the mountains will be in the upper 70s. Overnight lows will be in the mid to upper 60s region-wide. Otherwise, it will be a calm weekend with partly cloudy skies and winds from the southwest at 10-15 mph.
