High pressure will provide a quiet end to the week, but a strong cold front is expected by Friday night into Saturday that will bring rain and snow to the region.

High pressure will slowly exit today through Friday with scattered to broken cloud cover.  Winds will back from the southwest to southeast at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures today will rise into the mid-30s over the interior and upper 30s to lower 40s along the coast for highs.  Temperatures tomorrow will range from the upper 20s to lower 30s for lows and lower to mid-40s for highs.  Temperatures on Friday will range from the upper 20s to lower 30s for lows and lower to mid-40s over the interior and mid to upper 40s along the coast for highs.

A strong cold front and an area of low pressure will lift through the region Friday night through Saturday with periods of rain, heavy at times.  The rain will mix over to snow over the Poconos and Catskills on Saturday morning with some minor snow accumulation expected for elevations over 700 feet.  Temperatures on Saturday will range from the lower to mid-30s over the interior and upper 30s to lower 40s along the coast for lows and mid-30s to lower 40s over the interior and mid to upper 40s along the coast for highs.

A series of weak cold fronts and troughs of low pressure will follow Sunday through Wednesday with scattered to broken cloud cover and a few flurries.  Some lake effect snow showers will be a threat for the Ponocos, Catskills, and portions of northwestern New Jersey.  Temperatures on Sunday and Monday will range from the mid to upper 20s over the interior and lower to mid-30s along the coast for lows and mid to upper 30s over the interior and lower to mid-40s along the coast for highs.  Temperatures on Tuesday will range from the single digits to mid-10s over the interior and upper 10s to mid-20s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-30s for highs.  Temperatures on Wednesday will range from the lower to mid-20s over the interior and upper 20s to lower 30s along the coast for lows and upper 20s to lower 30s over the interior and mid to upper 30s along the coast for highs.
