Periods of rain this morning will give way to improving weather conditions for this afternoon and evening.  A new tropical air mass returns by Sunday.

A cold front will continue to sink south this morning with periods of showers and weak thunderstorms slowly sinking south and southeast through the region.  Skies will slowly clear this afternoon and evening.  Winds will veer from the southwest to northwest at 5 to 10 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the upper 70s to mid-80s for highs this afternoon.

The old cold front boundary will weaken into a trough and linger over the region tomorrow with scattered cloud cover expected.  An isolated shower will be possible in the afternoon, otherwise dry conditions will be in place.  Winds will veer to the southeast at 5 to 10 mph.  Temperatures tomorrow will range from the upper 60s to lower 70s for lows and lower to mid-80s along the coast and mid to upper 80s elsewhere for highs.

A trough will linger over the Delaware River Valley on Sunday with a return to more tropical weather conditions. Some early morning fog will give way to scattered clouds and increasing humidity.  An isolated thunderstorm is possible.  Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 10 mph.  Temperatures will range from the upper 60s to mid-70s for lows and mid-80s to lower 90s along the coast and lower to mid-90s elsewhere for highs.

A tropical air mass will remain in place for Monday and Tuesday with fog in the morning and isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon.  Humid conditions can be expected with temperatures ranging from the lower to mid-70s for lows and mid-80s to lower 90s along the coast and lower to mid-90s elsewhere for highs.  A heat index over 95 degrees will be a threat.

A strong cold front will follow Tuesday night on through Wednesday morning with periods of showers and thunderstorms.  A few thunderstorms may reach severe levels.  Skies will clear towards Wednesday afternoon as the cold front drops south.  Temperatures on Wednesday will range from the upper 60s to mid-70s for lows and mid-80s to lower 90s for highs.

High pressure will be in control on Thursday with scattered cloud cover.  Temperatures will range from the mid to upper 60s for lows and lower to mid-80s for highs.
