Waves of showers and thunderstorms can be expected today, but improving conditions are expected for this weekend.

A stationary front will slowly drop south through the region today with waves of showers and thunderstorms.  Morning showers will give way to scattered cloud cover through the early afternoon.  Another round of showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening.  The thunderstorms will be capable of heavy downpours, frequent lightning, hail, and wind gusts over 40 mph.  Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the mid-70s to lower 80s on the coast and lower to mid-80s elsewhere.

A cold front will approach tonight with broken cloud cover and isolated to widely scattered showers.  Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will fall into the mid to upper 60s for lows.

The cold front will move through the region in the morning through early afternoon hours with isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms.  Skies will clear towards the evening.  Winds will veer to the northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures tomorrow will rise into the upper 70s to mid-80s for highs.

High pressure will be in control on Sunday with clear skies to scattered cloud cover.  Winds will be from the northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures on Sunday will range from the mid to upper 50s for lows and upper 60s to mid-70s for highs.

High pressure will remain in control for Monday on through Wednesday with clear skies to scattered cloud cover.  Temperatures on Monday will range from the upper 40s to lower 50s for lows and lower to mid-70s for highs.  Temperatures on Tuesday will range from the lower to mid-50s for lows and upper 70s to mid-80s for highs.  Temperatures on Wednesday will range from the mid-50s to lower 60s for lows and upper 70s to mid-80s for highs.

A cold front will approach from the west while another low-pressure system will develop over the western Atlantic which will produce increasing clouds and showers towards the afternoon and evening hours on Thursday.  Temperatures will range from the upper 50s to lower 60s for lows and mid-70s to lower 80s for highs.
