Rain, Wind, And Coastal Flooding Through Friday

A low-pressure system will organize off the coast today with waves of showers, increasing winds, and coastal flooding a threat.

As an area of low pressure organizes off the Delaware coast today, periods of rain will develop throughout the region which will be heavy at times.  Winds will be from the northeast at 10 to 20 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the upper 50’s to lower 60’s for highs today.

The low-pressure system will slowly lift towards the New Jersey coastal waters tonight on through tomorrow with periods of showers expected.  Between the showers, cloudy conditions are expected.  Winds will back to the north at 5 to 15 mph over the interior, 10 to 20 mph along the Delaware River, and 15 to 30 mph with gusts over 35 mph along the coast.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid 50’s for lows and mid 50’s to lower 60’s on the coast and mid 60’s elsewhere.

The low-pressure system will slowly exit the region on Friday with morning showers becoming widely scattered to isolated in the afternoon.  Winds will be from the north at 5 to 15 mph over the interior, 10 to 20 mph along the Delaware River, and 15 to 30 mph with gusts over 35 mph along the coast.  Temperatures will range from the upper 40’s to lower 50’s for lows and upper 50’s to lower 60’s for highs.

Through Friday, minor to moderate coastal flooding will be a threat with tides 1 to 4 feet above normal tidal levels.  Additional details on the storm in the map below.

A cold front will follow on Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning with isolated to widely scattered showers.  Temperatures on Saturday will range from the upper 40’s to mid 50’s for lows and mid 60’s to lower 70’s for highs.  Temperatures on Sunday will range from the upper 40’s to lower 50’s for lows and lower to mid 60’s for highs.

High pressure will be in control on Monday and Tuesday with clear skies to scattered cloud cover.  Temperatures on Monday will range from the mid to upper 40’s for lows and mid 60’s to lower 70’s for highs.  Temperatures on Tuesday will range from the lower to mid 50’s for lows and upper 60’s to mid 70’s for highs.
