A stationary front this morning will linger over the region leading to waves of showers, heavy at times, moving from west to east. The showers will give way to broken to scattered cloud cover towards noon ahead of an advancing cold front. The cold front will produce widely scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms this afternoon. The thunderstorms will be capable of heavy downpours, occasional lightning, and wind gusts over 40 mph. Skies will clear this evening as the cold front exits. Winds will veer from the southeast to west at 10 to 20 mph. Temperatures will rise into the upper 50’s to lower 60’s in the New York City metro and mid 60’s to lower 70’s in the Philadelphia metro for highs this afternoon.
High pressure will build south from Canada this evening on through tomorrow with clear skies to scattered cloud cover. Winds will veer from the northwest to northeast at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures will range from the upper 40’s to lower 50’s for lows and lower to mid 60’s for highs.
An area of low pressure will track towards the North Carolina coastal waters tomorrow night with rain developing after midnight. The low pressure system will slowly move north through the coastal waters Sunday on through Tuesday with waves of showers expected. The showers will be capable of heavy downpours at times. Winds will be from the east and northeast at 10 to 20 mph through the period. Temperatures on Sunday will range from the mid 40’s for lows and mid 50’s for highs. Temperatures on Monday will range from the mid 40’s for lows and mid 50’s for highs. Temperatures on Tuesday will range from the mid to upper 40’s for lows and mid to upper 50’s for highs.
A cold front will approach from the Great Lakes on Wednesday with morning showers followed by clearing skies. Scattered clouds are expected on Thursday and Friday with high pressure in control off the East coast. Temperatures will rise to above normal levels as a result. Temperatures on Wednesday will range from the upper 40’s to lower 50’s for lows and lower 70’s for highs. Temperatures on Thursday will range from the lower to mid 50’s for lows and upper 60’s to lower 70’s along the coast and mid to upper 70’s over the Delaware River Valley for highs. Temperatures on Friday will range from the mid 50’s to lower 60’s for lows and lower to mid 70’s along the coast and upper 70’s to lower 80’s in the Delaware River Valley for highs.
