Slow Decline Back To Normal This Week

9:27 AM

The historic mild weather pattern which has smashed record highs through this weekend and likely will come close to doing so today is about to come to an end.  The good news is the decline will be slow and soft before more winter like weather returns this weekend.  Temperatures will return to near normal but will likely feel like the Arctic Express has decided to visit after temperatures in the 60’s and even 70’s of late.

Areas of fog this morning will slowly lift by this afternoon giving way to variable cloud cover.  Winds will be from the south at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 60’s for highs this afternoon.

A cold front will approach tonight on through early tomorrow morning with periods of rain and even a few embedded thunderstorms.  The thunderstorms will be capable of brief heavy downpours and wind gusts over 30 mph.  The showers will exit before the rush hour tomorrow.  Winds will veer from the south to the northwest at 10 to 20 mph.  Temperatures will fall into the lower to mid 50’s for lows.

High pressure will move across the region tomorrow on through Wednesday with scattered clouds.  Winds will veer from the northwest to northeast at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the lower 60’s for highs tomorrow.  Temperatures on Wednesday will range from the mid 40’s for lows and mid to upper 50’s for highs.

A strong cold front will follow on Thursday with periods of showers.  Much colder air will be following this cold front.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid 40’s for lows and mid 50’s for highs.

An area of low pressure will move through the coastal waters along the slowly departing cold front on Friday with periods of showers especially in the afternoon and evening hours.  There is even potential for a little wet snow to mix into the rain at times, however no accumulation is expected.  Temperatures on Friday will range from the lower to mid 40’s for lows and upper 40’s to lower 50’s for highs.

Canadian high pressure will be in place for Saturday and Sunday with clear skies expected and much colder temperatures.  Temperatures will range from the upper 20’s to lower 30’s for lows and upper 30’s to lower 40’s for highs.
