Screen Shot 2013-01-01 at 8.58.16 AMAs an arctic cold front slowly drops south through the New York City and Philadelphia metropolitan areas today, variable clouds will remain in place along with the threat for a few flurries.

Temperatures this morning in the mid to upper 30’s over the interior and upper 30’s to lower 40’s along the coast will hold steady through the afternoon as high temperatures before falling through the 30’s and 20’s this evening.  Winds will shift to the northwest at 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph at times.

High pressure will take control tonight on through this weekend with tranquil weather conditions.  While no precipitation is expected through this week, temperatures will certainly be felt.  As arctic air takes hold, temperatures will fall to below normal levels through Friday.  Temperatures will range from the mid to upper 10’s over the interior and lower to mid 20’s along the coast for lows and mid 30’s over the interior and mid to upper 30’s along the coast for highs.  Temperatures will moderate by the weekend into early next week with lows in the mid 20’s to lower 30’s for lows and upper 30’s to mid 40’s for highs.
