Some Snow Today, Mainly Calm Rest Of The Week

Good morning! Currently we have snow falling across much of the forecast region, with the exception being right along the New Jersey coast and parts of central and southern New Jersey as well where mostly rain is falling in those areas. These areas could see a changeover to a mix as the storm progresses, but the rain and slightly warm surfaces will limit any potential accumulations. In most other areas of the region, mostly snow will fall and snow accumulations of 2-4″ can be expected. Some local pockets of over 4″ are possible in central NJ through Connecticut. For more specific details on snowfall totals, check the NY NJ PA Weather snowfall map! Highs today will range from below freezing through much of the northern regions to the mid to upper 30’s in areas of central and southern NJ. The snow and rain will continue right on through tonight where we expect precipitation to stop falling mainly during the late evening. Lows tonight will be in the lower 20’s for northern regions, and in the upper 20s for southern areas.

After the storm passes through our forecast region, we will be left with high pressure that will take control of our weather for a few days. Sunday will be partly sunny and chilly, with highs only reaching the lower to mid 30’s across much of the area. It will be quite blustery as well, as winds should kick up into the 15-25 mph range out of the northwest. Sunday night will be partly cloudy and cold, with lows in the upper teens to lower 20’s. Monday will be similar to Sunday, with chilly high temperatures in the lower to mid 30s and a bit of a breeze under partly cloudy skies. We will have a chance of some snow flurries or light snow showers overnight on Monday. Otherwise, expect partly cloudy skies to continue and low temperatures to get down into the lower to mid 20’s.

For New Year’s Day on Tuesday right on through the rest of the week, we can expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies each day with high temperatures not getting very warm throughout the week. We start out with highs in the upper 20’s to lower 30’s on Tuesday, but end up by the end of the work week having highs only get up into the lower to mid 20’s on Friday. Overnight, we can expect much of the same. Low temperatures will be in the mid to upper teens for the remainder of the week. That’s all for this forecast update, have a great day!
