Lisa became a hurricane before making landfall in Belize with 85 mph winds, but since landfall has steadily weakened and is likely to become a tropical storm overnight.
Lisa will track on the southern side of a strong 500 MB ridge centered over Cuba which will force the storm into the Bay of Campeche by Friday morning. Lisa is expected to meander over the southern Gulf of Mexico before degenerating into a post-tropical low-pressure system by Saturday night due to dry air and strong westerly shear.
Martin reached hurricane strength this evening with winds up to 85 mph. Martin is lifting into colder waters and a hostile upper-level environment over the next 12 hours. As a result, Martin will transition into an extratropical storm by tomorrow afternoon while lifting into the northeastern Atlantic Ocean. The remnants of Martin will likely be a significant threat to Ireland and Great Britain by Sunday night into Monday morning.
