Tropical Storm Lisa formed this morning after enough organization developed to designate the low-level circulation a tropical low-pressure system. Lisa features disorganized convection that is expected to become better organized by this afternoon.
In the next 24 hours, the atmospheric environment will be more favorable as a strong upper-level ridge builds to the north of the low-pressure system over Cuba and Jamacia. The strong upper-level ridge will force Tropical Storm Lisa through the southern Caribbean Sea which will feature water temperatures around 29°C. The combination of these features will support the potential for Lisa to steadily intensify while tracking toward Belize into a strong tropical storm or hurricane.
