A poorly organized tropical low-pressure system has the potential to rapidly develop into a tropical storm and even possibly a hurricane before making landfall in Belize by Thursday morning.
While the elongated low-pressure system is producing 40 mph sustained winds on the northern side of the circulation. However, convection is disorganized while shear and dry air continue to inhibit the development of PTC 15.
However, in the next 24 hours, the atmospheric environment will be more favorable as a strong upper-level ridge builds to the north of the low-pressure system over Cuba and Jamacia. The strong upper-level ridge will force the tropical low-pressure system through the southern Caribbean Sea which will feature water temperatures around 29°C. The combination of these features will support the potential for PTC 15 to steadily intensify while tracking toward Belize into a strong tropical storm or hurricane.
